'Storm Boy’ written by Colin Thiele was filmed on the Coorong in
South Australia. A tale about a little boy and his friendship with Fingerbone
the Aboriginal tracker & a pelican, Mr Percival.

The stark, incredibly wild, raw beauty of this landscape is so unique.

The Coorong is a saline lagoon separated from the Southern Ocean by
sand dunes and windswept beaches. It is internationally significant as a migratory
bird refuge and home of the Ngarrindjeri tribe.

There are teeming skies of black duck, rookeries of pelicans, swans elegantly
gliding through water still as glass.

The faded colours of fisherman huts line the waters edge with the sun in the
background lighting up the brilliant white of the sand hills.

It’s worth watching Storm Boy and worth visiting this special part of Australia.
