Our photoshoot for winter was my favourite to date. (I do say it every time.)
But to shoot something so special only 20 minutes from home made it is so meaningful.
I loved looking at this landscape with fresh eyes. As a child all I did was dream of Noosa, palm trees & hyper colour t-shirts. Now I can’t believe the incredible raw beauty. The water is teeming with black duck, swans, pelicans. The most classic untouched Australian fisherman shacks are perched right on the waters edge.
There are no rules, no permits, no worries. Fisherman chug past, throw scraps to the pelicans and quietly untangle nets.
I felt similar about the 70’s film ‘Storm Boy’ recently and it inspired this collection. As a child I thought it was scary. Now I love the beautiful little tale about a boy, his friendship with Fingerbone and of course his pet pelican, Mr Percival. And the amazing cinematography of this true wilderness. So heartfelt and so uniquely Australian.
PS. A very big thanks to Mr Adrian Hincks for organising the shack, boat, nets and helping clear the grass of the daisies when it was ruining the shot!!!
